1. Downs, Caleb*

Ohio State - 6000 / 205

Three-year starter, Hoschton, GA. First team All-Big 10 in 2024 along with the Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year. First team All-America in 2023-2024. Well-built safety prospect with notable arm length and muscle definition. Leader on the field making the calls in the secondary. Makes plays all over the field from a variety of alignments including deep safety, in the slot, and in the box. Instinctual player who diagnoses plays quickly and puts himself in proper position regularly. Excellent change-of-direction skills and hip fluidity. Bursts out of his stance with exceptional acceleration. Excellent range in one-high and two-high coverage. Midpoints targets with excellent route recognition to take away multiple options at all levels with impressive range and short-area explosiveness. Reads quarterback intentions to take away threats in his peripheral and behind him. Sticky in man coverage with strength and physicality to jam and lock down bigger targets. Aggressive filling running lanes in the trenches. Needs to increase violence at the catch point to force incompletions. Leaves his feet when tackling in space at times. Blue chip prospect.

2. Thieneman, Dillon*  

Oregon - 6000 / 207

Three-year starter, Westfield, IN. Transferred from Purdue prior to the 2025 season. Third-team All America in 2023, All Big 10 honorable mention in 2024. Long, athletic safety prospect, rangy safety with all the athletic traits desired in a true one-high safety. Aligns all over the field including deep safety, the slot, and in the box. Smooth backpedal with fluid hips to open up and bail with excellent agility. Quick to read and react to what is happening in front of him. Excellent at adjusting with quarterback intentions to put himself in position to make plays often. Closes space on receivers with impressive burst and acceleration to get in-phase quickly. Tough, hard-nosed player who will fly full speed into blockers and ball carriers. Uses proper tackling form to bring ball carriers to the ground consistently. Non-stop motor and never takes a play off. Man coverage technique needs work; often provides too big of a cushion. Angles in off-man and outside hitting run plays need improvement.

3. Moore, Rod

Michigan - 5110 / 198

Three-year starter, Dayton, OH. Third-team All-Big 10 in 2023, honorable mention in 2022. Missed the 2024 season due to injury. Versatility to play both safety positions and in the slot. An excellent athlete with notable hip fluidity, change-of-direction skills, and agility to make plays in coverage. Great range from deep safety to take away a large portion of the field. In underneath zone coverage he is able to jam receivers while leveraging his zone with authority. Has a knack for finding the ball in the air with six interceptions over the past two seasons. Physical in man coverage with proper technique to lock bigger receivers down. Destroys blocks with a physical engagement and strong hands to shed. Excellent violence at the point-of-attack to fill gaps and make tackles with limited yards-after-contact. Needs to position himself better based on route concepts and the quarterback to make more plays from depth. His light frame creates concern despite his physical play-style.

4. Kilgore, Jalon*

South Carolina - 6010 / 219

Three-year starter, Eatonton, GA. Third-team All SEC in 2024, first-team freshman All America in 2023. Alignment versatility with snaps at safety, slot, and the box. An excellent athlete with impressive agility and acceleration. Quick to react to pass concepts and puts himself in decent position. Excellent hip fluidity and route recognition to take away large portions of the field both underneath and from depth. Blankets receivers across the field with his speed and athleticism. Recovers quickly when he falls out-of-phase. Notable ball production and has proven to break up passes at the catchpoint. Will fire downhill from the box to meet ball carriers in the backfield in run support. Slips his way behind blockers to finish against the run. Reliable finisher in the open field with proper tackling form. Can bring down ball carriers of all sizes. Footwork and eyes can get sloppy in man coverage; must learn to utilize his leverage better. Need to see more assertiveness when taking on and shedding blocks. Does not always give full effort in pursuit.

5. Taaffe, Michael  

Texas - 6000 / 195

Four-year starter, Austin, TX. Second-team All America in 2024, honorable mention All Big 10 in 2023. Veteran leader of the defense who makes adjustments across the board. Notable athleticism to help him navigate the field in a hurry. Quick to transition from bail and drive downhill. Excellent at identifying developing route concepts and knows how to best attack them. Displays impressive range and recognition skills from one-high safety to attack vertical routes over the top. Tough in catch-man and shows no hesitancies when jamming receivers. Mirrors tight ends across the field. Substantial speed to carry fast receivers downfield. Quick to fire downhill and fill lanes in the box; unafraid of contact. Decent shed to stack blockers. Takes proper angles to the perimeter on outside runs and screens. Tackling technique needs work, especially wrapping up ball carriers. Leaves his feet when tackling in space causing him to miss. Needs to lower his pad level on tackles to prevent significant yards-after-contact.
