Two-year starter. Typically aligned at either outside cornerback spot in South Carolina’s defense utilizing a good mixture of zone and man coverages. Polished line-of-scrimmage skills with patience and square hips to cut off receivers on their release. In cover two zone he shows extensive route recognition as he escorts deep routes to the safety and rallies downhill to underneath routes. In cover three, he shows great bail technique that helps him drop in an instant while keeping everything in front of him. Fluid hips that help him change direction quickly. When the ball is out he shows substantial twitch and reaction speed to break on the ball. Impressive start-stop ability that helps him undercut passes from his zone. Tight man coverage with polished technique and loose hips to sink his weight. He possesses the fluidity and twitch to travel with receivers all over the field while staying in-phase. Decent foot speed when running with receivers downfield. Violent at the catchpoint to knock balls loose in the receiver’s hands. Showed effort and desire to rally and make an impact in run support. Occasionally looked back at the quarterback in man coverage and lost his target. Difficulty getting off of blocks on the perimeter. Although he rallies to the ball, provides little value in run support. Uses his shoulder and lunges when tackling allowing runners to bounce off of him; needs to drop his pads when making contact. Strength concerns show up on film especially when attempting to finish tackles; he will allow notable yards-after-contact.
