Five year starter. Second team All-Pac 12 from 2022-2023. Started 44 games at left tackle and then came back to start 12 games as a left guard. Compact well-proportioned frame for an interior lineman. Versatile player, with potential to play all five positions. Took center snaps at the Combine but the largest body of work was at guard and tackle. Has good explosive straight ahead quickness. Gets a good position step to the outside shoulder of the “1” technique. Hand placement is accurate getting inside the defender's frame. More of a positional player than a knock you off the ball guy, but has solid movement skill. Pulls with authority and can get to second level blocks. Plays with a flat back and good base in pass protection. Anchors well against a bull rush. Gets off the ball, but follows it with not enough movement. Needs to finish blocks consistently. He will overrun the linebacker at times when climbing up to the second level. Lets the “1” tech get to his edge. Will let the defender drive into his body. Aiming point is inconsistent and his play is too often on the wrong side of the ball. Slow on the combination blocks, as timing looks a bit off. Agility appears to hamper his decisive movement. Has a wealth of starting experience but has some areas of improvement to make an impact at the next level. Versatility will serve him well as a potential five position backup.
