One year starter. Has been a rotational player for the Irish the prior three seasons and took over the Will position in 2024. Has been an outstanding special team player prior to 2024 playing on multiple teams. Outstanding in kick coverage he’s made several big hits. As a rotational and special team player he was the team leader in solo tackles. Physical with a solid frame. Has a good football IQ and is consistently in position to make plays. Flashes take on ability with a violent punch to stun and separate from blocks. On the move his striking ability quickly gains ball side leverage and he’s rarely out of position. Takes open windows in blocking schemes and has had success fitting backdoor gaps versus climbing blockers. Excellent scraping and chasing to the alley. Changes direction well in a short space and he’s adept at finding the right angle to the ball. Paces backs on outside runs staying on the back hip to prevent cutbacks and make plays in space. Physical tackler, he can gather and drive through ball carriers. Rarely misses. Has blitz skill working off the edge or inside with timing to hit gaps on the snap. Gets quickly into his drop in zone coverage flashing route recognition and reading the quarterback. Has ball skills flashing quick reactions and timing to attack the catch point. Has good hands for interceptions with four in his career. This past year was his first season with extensive coverage reps and he’s a work in progress. There has been inconsistency in depth and positioning in pass drops. May lack the speed to cover speedy backs out of the backfield as he’s been outrun at times to the perimeter. Projects early as a developing backup and special team ace.
