2025 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about EMERY JONES JR.:
LSU | Hometown: Baton Rouge, LA | HT: 6052 | WT: 315 | 40 time: N/A | Hand: 1034 | Arm: 3414 | Wing: 8112
Junior entry, three year starter. Second team All-SEC, Jones was a 2022 All-SEC freshman. A savvy long-armed right tackle. Has played both guard and tackle and was efficient at either position. Plays with a lot of energy and is a classic hustler. Excellent foot speed and strength at the point of attack. Has an exaggerated lead step and stays “behind” his pads with his strong upper body. A quick puller which gets him quickly across the line of scrimmage. Can kick an edge defender out of the play or pull up through the hole. Explosive straight ahead blocker when called upon to do so. Solid drive blocker. Tries to work the defender's hands down. He is a sound technician who will jolt the defender's head back on impact. “Clamps” them with his strong hands. His good footwork allows him to get hip to hip with center or guard. Good flat-backed blocker who will throw his hips out. Very good footwork in pass protection. Excellent on kick step in his pass set. Will run defensive lineman upfield past the quarterback’s drop, is very conscious of where the quarterback is in proximity of his drop. Will appear to be confused from time to time, could come from playing multiple positions. Can be slow to pick up stunts and twists. Struggles with quick edge rushers. Will set too high from time to time. He plays with a high motor. Part of a well-coached group of linemen at LSU, he could be a solid mid round selection as a right tackle.
Draft projection: 2nd/3rd round
