Junior entry, two year starter. Honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2023 and 2024. Slightly undersized but hyper athletic. Versatile to play outside corner and nickel. Also had reps as a deep hole player. Has played various man to man techniques along with quarters, cover two and three. Usually lines up square inside and outside, adjusting to maintain leverage. Playing deep outside used press and bail and a lateral shuffle to a lateral run. Fluid hips with easy transitions. As a zone defender sees route combinations and the delivery key and shows a burst on plant and drive to underneath throws. Balances routes in overlapping zones and is generally in position to make plays on the ball. Shows up well as a hook/flat defender as a nickel. Consistent to balance high/low routes playing underneath. As a press corner can be physical with an off-hand jam but also can play soft press. Rarely loses leverage at the snap and can mirror multiple cuts from press. Has been effective undercutting route breaks and getting his hands on the ball. Has the speed to cover deep along with recovery speed if beaten on a cut. As a nickel playing man, often used a flat foot read into a physical catch and reroute technique on vertical release. Willing in run support with improved results over 2023. Has flashed ability to shed stalk blocks, come off the ball, and make a tackle. While improved, tackling in space can be an issue as he can whiff on cutbacks and doesn’t always wrap. In off-man, occasionally rounds off reactions to comebacks and out cuts creating too much space on the catch. Doesn’t always locate the ball in phase with the opportunity to make a play. Though still developing, has the tools of a versatile NFL starter.
