One year starter. Was a backup to Byron Murphy and T’Vondre Sweat providing rotational depth before becoming a starter in 2024. Has desired height and length to go with a functionally strong upper body. Played from a 4i down to a one technique in the Texas defense. Flashes snap quickness and a forceful initial strike with the hands. Can lock out an offensive lineman with knee bend and power. Anchors on straight up blocks and double teams and rarely gets knocked back. Is effective on gap charges slants a gap over. When free in the gap, can be disruptive in the backfield. Decent lateral quickness gives him range to chase along the line. Normally hustles in pursuit. Gets in on a lot of tackles along the line showing bend and power driving through tackles. Has a nice set of moves as a pass rusher. Quickness on gap charges can get him free. Shows a bull rush into a move with an arm under rip and arm over as go to moves. Long arms make him a threat on both. Has been effective at times with a stab with the outside arm into an arm over. At times on the arm over he gets a little upright allowing a blocker’s strike to knock him off stride. His hard gap charges can be a little out of control and he can be knocked off balance on contact from a down block. Has spent some time on the ground as a result. Lack of lower body bulk can be a factor. Can be a little slow to shed, spending too much time with a blocker after getting separation. An ascending player with rotational potential in the NFL.
