Georgia | Hometown: Columbus, GA | HT: 6051 | WT: 267 | 40 time: 4.77 | Hand: 1014 | Arm: 3438 | Wing: 8278
Two year starter as part of Georgia’s defensive line rotation. Second team All-SEC in 2024. Was used on the edge anywhere from a 4i to a wide nine. Played from both a three and two point stance. Has size and length to go with twitch to react and chase. Flashes an explosive get off to get immediate separation using his long arms. Sets a hard edge and can make plays from inside to the perimeter. Can redirect off a block and close in backside pursuit. Covers a lot of ground chasing. Solid tackling skill, he is productive getting tackles for a loss. Speed to power and pressure is excellent as he can get a push on a tackle working into a move. Has a reliable hand swipe working the edge of a tackle. Can counter inside and close. Has been effective on inside stunts attacking gaps. He’s adept at getting his hands in the throwing lane to inhibit the quarterback’s view as well as bat down passes. Those long arms have been effective on strip sack opportunities. His get off can be inconsistent as he’s late off the ball at times. His assignment in the defense is a factor at times, but there are also times he’s not exceptionally quick out of his stance. Does not consistently show great bend and flex running the arc to the quarterback. He can lose balance at times working the edge against an athletic tackle. Will take a side occasionally and lose gap discipline. Lacks an advanced arsenal of moves and relies too much on his athleticism to win in the pass rush. Powerful athletic tackles can stalemate him as he gets high at times and locked up. Needs some refinement, but the physical tools are there for an impact starter in the NFL.
