Three-year starter. First-team All-Missouri Valley in 2024, honorable mention in 2023. Plays all over the field for Illinois State including deep safety, in the box, apexed, and on the edge. A big-bodied safety with bulging muscles. A strong punch in catch-man that will knock tight ends off their path. Can cover bigger tight ends in man coverage with his sheer size and strength to jam them throughout the route. Short-area burst to take away an area of the field underneath, and utilizes his long arms to get hands in the way of passes. Long strides in space helps him make ground quickly. Plays at his best downhill where he can restrict running lanes with his physical nature, and is able to work through traffic effectively to get to the ball carrier. He is a violent tackler who uses great form to bring ball carriers of all sizes to the ground, and he will hit like a truck. Off the edge he explodes into the backfield with notable bend to affect the quarterback. High effort player with no “quit” in his game. Athletic limitations including tight hips and difficulties dropping his weight cause major problems in man coverage against shifty tight ends and wide receivers. Marginal range and lumbers to get to the ball in the air from depth. Takes him a while to speed up out of his stance due to fringe burst. Lacks the speed to be a true sideline-to-sideline run defender. Potential to be an excellent special teamer early. Most natural fit on defense may be in the box as a light linebacker.
