Iowa | Hometown: Chicago, IL | HT: 6004 | WT: 191 | 40 time: 4.65 | Hand: 0934 | Arm: 3158 | Wing: 7600
Two year starter. Third team All-Big 10 in 2024. Comeback Player of the Year in 2023. Missed all of 2022 with an injury. Has spent six years at Iowa. Athletic corner with above average length. At his best in zone coverage primarily playing outside zone concepts. Has experience in cover two, quarters and cover three. Also limited press and off-man. Exhibits a smooth shuffle pedal quickly transitioning to a lateral shuffle to a lateral run. Flips his hips to stay in phase. In man coverage, flashes mirror ability on most route breaks and can stay in phase on vertical routes. As a press corner is mostly reactive but will throw an off-hand jam into an outside move. As a deep outside zone defender, gets into a zone turn on a vertical release with vision to see the quarterback and developing patterns. Excels at recognizing and balancing multiple route combinations in outside zones. Positions to stress the throwing lane and make plays on the ball. Instinctive reactions put him in position to break on throws from multiple angles. As a hard corner, will balance high low routes as well as close the void on shallow crossing routes from the other side. Has forced quarterbacks into bad decisions or throwaways with his positioning. Exhibits a quick effortless plant and drive on the delivery key. Makes a lot of immediate hits on underneath throws. Willing in run support to take on blocks and tackle. That said, missed tackle percentage is too high. Failure to wrap can be an issue. As a man corner, has trouble with shifty receiver’s double moves. Prone to getting separated on dig routes against quick-footed receivers. Older prospect at 25 but will fit in a zone heavy scheme.
2024 Stats: 27 T, 1 TFL, 7 PBU, 3 INT (1 TD). VJ-37.0. Draft projection: 4th/5th round
