Two year starter. First team All Big 12 the last two seasons along with second team All-America in 2024. After playing 3 years at Louisville, Kandra came home to Cincinnati and established himself as a well decorated starter. Possesses a thick body with solid overall size and length. Great first step explosion leading to him being a top notch run blocker. A solid pass protector, only allowing one sack in his last two seasons. Quick with hands getting extension and keeping defenders out of his frame. Good side to side quickness, adjusts well against the late stem. Shows patience in picking up defensive line twists or when the linebacker is blitzing. Moves his feet well in driving the defender past the quarterback. He comes off on the linebacker blitz. Has an excellent first step on the inside zone run. Gets on the shoulder of the center or tackle in zone schemes. Pulls well and logs the outside shoulder of the defensive lineman. Gets good results on seeking out the safety on the quick screen. Oversets occasionally in pass protection and has inconsistent hand placement in pass protection. Struggles with a quick defensive tackle, but works to stay low in his set up. A little slow to react when in space, which is not often. Somewhat of a waist bender he struggles to gather on blocks. Needs to finish with the same explosion that he starts with. He is a plodding grinder, in a war every play. A candidate to be developed. BP-33.
