Four year starter, plus one as a redshirt his true freshman year. He is strictly a center, lacking the length to play other positions. Has a solid frame and athleticism to play center. Has set a Texas Longhorn record, 57 games in his collegiate career. Able to adjust protections and run schemes at the line of scrimmage. He is quick off the ball. Plays the position with strength, he makes the defender run in place when he gets his hands on them. Gets good hand placement within the framework of the defender. Stays on-balance when sliding down the line. Can come off the combo block and get his hands on the linebacker while keeping his feet moving. Sees the blitz coming. Gets out in front of tunnel screens and out in front of the play as a pulling center. Plays like, and needs to play like an “old pro”, because of being a bit physically challenged. He is a left handed snapper. The excellent pass protector is short-armed, which could present a problem with large defensive tackles at the next level. His lack of size limits his margin for error. Needs to move people off the ball. He’ll have to continue to redevelop his game to offset any limitations. Plays like an alley cat with a good head on his shoulders. Needs to be in the right offensive scheme to utilize his moxy for the position. Should be a solid mid round selection. BP-25.
