Toledo | Hometown: New Palestine, IN | HT: 6004 | WT: 201 | 40 time: 4.52 | Hand: 0918 | Arm: 3214 | Wing: 7512
Four-year starter. Four-time All-MAC selection including first-team honors in each of the past three seasons. A key piece for the Toledo defense who plays all over the field including safety, on the edge, and in the box at linebacker. A solid-sized safety prospect with good muscle definition. Underneath he has a good understanding in zone coverage to take away throwing lanes for the quarterback. Flies like a bullet to underneath passes and looks to take the receiver’s head off. A physical defender unafraid to take on blocks from anyone. Plays his best towards the line-of-scrimmage where he uses his aggressive playstyle and athleticism to excel as a sideline-to-sideline run defender. Excellent feel for leverage matched with lateral agility help him scrape across the line-of-scrimmage and meet running backs in the gap. Consistently makes tackles in space with proper form. High effort player willing to sprint across the field using considerable speed to get to the ball. Backpedal looks labored and he struggles to weave with quarterback intentions. Fringe range from depth and will struggle in one-high schemes. Slow processing speed from depth and is often late turning and running to the ball. Tightness in his hips shows up when turning to run with receivers downfield. Needs to keep his hips square in catch-man, and alleviate space quicker to prevent easy catches. Difficulties destroying blocks consistently; needs to better utilize his hands to shed. Usage in an NFL defense will be hindered by his athletic deficiencies.
