2025 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about MONTRELL JOHNSON JR.:
Florida | Hometown: New Orleans, LA | HT: 5113 | WT: 212 | 40 time: 4.41 | Hand: 0914 | Arm: 3118 | Wing: 7578
Three-year starter. Spent one season at Louisiana prior to transferring to Florida to follow Head Coach Billy Napier. Thickly built below the waist giving him a power base. He is the “ultimate pro” and “the guy you want to date your daughter” according to Gators’ running backs coach Jabbar Juluke. On the field, he is simply a guy who knows how to play the position when it comes to footwork, vision, and a versatile approach to picking up yards after contact. Shows light feet and a low pad level while moving with the ball. His late, subtle movement helps him miss contact with defenders and he is a guy who will fight for every inch. While the speed limitations are there and he lacks looseness, he is a capable rotational back who can be a weapon between the tackles and on third down as a blocker. Strong NFL body that promotes his balanced and tough running style. Can pounce on a rushing lane with burst and power. Sticky blocker who stays on his man with both good feet and hands. Stays hungry. Lack of speed and lateral fluidity will limit him in space. Can be caught from behind. Too many drops as a receiver.
2024 Stats: 593 yds, 5.9 ypc, 6 TD. OSR:8/27. SS-4.29. Draft projection: 6th-7th round
