Three-year starter. Second-team All-America in 2022, third-team All-SEC this past season. Solid-sized linebacker with a thick midsection and suboptimal arm length. Leads the defense and makes all adjustments and call-outs. Considerable athlete with agility, quick feet, and burst. Solid at reading the triangle and positions himself well against the run. Shows the mental processing skills to read and react quickly to different run concepts. Quick choppy feet when taking his read steps ready to fire out of his stance. At his best in between the tackles where he can trigger downhill quickly with explosiveness out of his stance. In zone coverage he reads the quarterback and gets into throwing windows to take away targets. Shows the athletic ability to carry running backs and tight ends in man coverage. Adds value as a blitzer with solid bend around the edge. High motor player always looking to make an impact. Must find more ways to evade blocks as he struggles to disengage and gets caught up often. Fringe sideline-to-sideline speed and can get out-leveraged when pursuing runners to the perimeter. Shows difficulties recognizing route concepts around him in zone coverage and relies on the quarterback’s eyes. Needs to improve his angles towards the sideline. He is often the nail rather than the hammer; absorbs contact allowing runners to pick up additional yards. Does not always wrap up and often leaves his feet.
