2025 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about LUKE LACHEY:
Iowa | Hometown: Columbus, OH | HT: 6056 | WT: 250 | 40 time: 4.85 | Hand: 1000 | Arm: 3212 | Wing: 7914
Three year starter. Honorable mention All-Big 10 in 2024. Has been a three time Academic All-Big 10. His father Jim played college football at Ohio State. Caught 74 passes for four touchdowns in his Hawkeye career. Was named team captain for two years. Effort is a key skill that he shows off on every game day. A big-bodied player, Lachey was a key contributor in Iowa’s pro-style offense. Being able to keep his big frame in front of the defender, he utilized his size and strength to block inline. Shows good grip strength. Solid position and wall off blocker. Has soft hands and a big catch radius. A physical mismatch on check down and flat routes. Really doesn’t do one thing great, but is consistent in all areas of the game. Route running is somewhat segmented and he has trouble getting open against tight man coverage. His feet are a bit slow. Doesn’t separate as easily as you would like, surprising having once been a wide receiver. Needs to develop a stronger punch to help activate his feet. For a big man he lacks power as a blocker. Iowa is known as “Tight End U” and has produced another one. However, he will definitely need to get better as a route runner and run blocker but has the frame to work with.
2024 Stats: 28-231, 8.3 ypr. VJ-35, SS-4.47. Draft projection: 4th/5th round
