Three-year starter. First-team All-Big 10 in 2023, honorable mention in 2024. Aligned at deep safety, down safety, nickel, and in the box at linebacker in specific packages. The leader of the back-end as he makes coverage checks and aligns everyone correctly. Excellent size and length for the position with great muscle definition; built like a linebacker. Impressive size-speed combination that makes him an enticing prospect to work with. A considerable athlete with loose hips and quality change-of-direction skills. Gains depth quickly and can carry receivers and tight ends vertically downfield. Nimble on his feet to leverage his zone and latch on to targets. Notable click-and-close in underneath zone to break up passes at the catchpoint and limit yards after the catch. Plays his best closer to the line-of-scrimmage where he is a vicious run defender who is not afraid to get dirty in the trenches. He is a hammer who makes it a priority to demolish the opposing ball carrier on contact. Excellent at working through traffic and locating the ball in condensed space, and finishes tackles with violence. Takes proper pursuit angles to the ball carrier. Must improve his processing speed; takes him time to react to the quarterback from deep safety and does not weave to close space quicker, limiting his range as a one-high defender. In limited man coverage snaps, he occasionally drifts and falls out-of-phase with his target. He is a step slow in pursuit and lets ball carriers get outside of him. Bad habit of lunging when tackling in space, creating more missed tackles than necessary. Difficulty getting off blocks on the perimeter and downfield, and occasionally ends up on the ground.
