One-year starter. Transfer from Duke prior to the 2024 season. Third-team All America and first-team All-ACC this past season, third-team all conference in 2023. Typically aligns at three-tech in four-down fronts. Odd body type with a thick upper body, muscular lower body, and notable butt girth. Exceptional explosiveness off the ball and fires into linemen like a wrecking ball. Throws all of his weight into linemen to get significant push right off the bat. Low off the ball to get underneath linemen and drive them back with significant strength and quick firing feet. Constant motor and aggression makes him a pain to block. Plays his best in one-gap schemes where he can shoot gaps and work into the backfield. Burst matched with a quick arm-over to show up in the backfield right off the snap. Active hands at the point-of-contact prevents linemen from attaching. Shifts his weight well to slant and attack openings. Dripping with tools to be an exceptional pass rusher. Variety of ways to win in one-on-one situations. Mismatch on the interior who can drop below linemen’s waists and corner inside effectively. Shows success with his spin move that could use some additional polish but a good starting point. Combines his explosiveness with his speed-to-power to collapse the pocket from different alignments. Tackles with authority to bring down bigger runners. Susceptible to getting snatched and may be on the ground more than you’d like. Without momentum he can get stood up where he stalls out completely against linemen with length. Lacks the anchor to plant his feet in the ground and hold the point against the run.
