Two year starter. Transferred from Appalachian State in 2023 where he played three seasons. As a rotational player in 2022 made third team All-Sun Belt. Well proportioned muscular frame with a huge wingspan. Plays much bigger than he is with incredible power. Versatile player who played off the ball and on the edge lining up in a wide 9 to 5 technique in both a two and four point stance. High hustle, second effort player who packs a wallop when he hits. As an off the ball backer is a downhill thumper with ability to take on inside blockers with knee bend and a stiff punch. Uses length to get separation and is quick to shed with a push pull or stun and go. Normally in the right path on inside run fits and is quick to fill and make tackles inline. Has above average lateral agility and can scrape outside and chase. On squared up tackles, explodes through the tackle with bend and drive. Playing the edge has a quick first step and flashes technique. Uses a violent strike into a rip move rushing the passer. Also shows a bull rush and an out to in counter. Highly productive as a pass rusher, he’s relentless chasing quarterbacks escaping the pocket. Used to drop in coverage and is quick reading run/pass getting depth in his drop and finding the throwing lane. Limited man coverage reps and not considered a strength. Some hip tightness causes tackling in space issues and lunges at times. Too many misses. May have trouble with NFL tackles at his size. Projects as a two down linebacker and situational rusher. Finding his role may be a challenge but he’s too productive to ignore.
