Five-year starter. Transfer from Tennessee prior to the 2024 season. Honorable mention All-ACC in 2024. Played in 61 games during his five-year collegiate career. Typically aligned on the edge in Miami’s defense with some snaps on the interior in odd fronts. Tall, long edge rusher prospect lacking weight but possessing great butt girth; plenty of room for growth. Excellent athleticism with fluid hips and substantial movements skills. Shows a number of moves to win on the edge consistently in pass rush including a violent club-and-rip move and a physical hand swipe. Excellent twitch in pass rush that makes him a challenge for linemen to get their hands on him. Best at slanting into gaps; uses a quick first step, considerable lateral agility, and violent hands to squeeze his way into lanes. Corners well off the edge with great bend and uses his arms to extend and keep distance. Closes on the quarterback in a hurry with impressive acceleration and hammers them into the dirt. Effective on stunts with quick feet and notable movement skills. In the run game he slides underneath tackles to show up in the backfield. Can set the edge in the run game with a long arm to stay square. Lacks explosiveness out of his stance and will not be able to win with speed at the next level. Struggles to generate power on contact and is inefficient on bullrushes. Shows a lack of counter rush moves and often stalls out when his first move does not land. Gets out-leveraged by linemen regularly and can get taken out of the picture. Struggles to extend and detach from linemen when ball carriers show up in his gap.
