2025 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about MALACHI MOORE:
Alabama | Hometown: Trussville, AL | HT: 5112 | WT: 197 | 40 time: 4.57 | Hand: 0900 | Arm: 2978 | Wing: 7578
Five-year starter. Team captain. First-team All-SEC in 2024, second-team All-SEC in 2020. Solid height for the position, but lacks weight and possesses ordinary length. Versatility to excel both at safety and nickel; played both positions extensively. He is the leader of the Alabama defense; regularly aligns the rest of the defense and makes adjustments before the snap. Quick to gain depth both with his backpedal and in his zone drop. A spectacular athlete who can take away a large portion of the field from depth in one-high schemes with great range. In two-high schemes he can take away his whole deep half with ease. Instinctual player who can cover up weaknesses in coverage with his route recognition and processing speed. Excellent hip fluidity to flip around his frame seamlessly; spectacular baseball turns to change direction in an instant. In catch-man his physicality helps him stay in-phase with receivers throughout the duration of the route. Solid burst to click-and-close on receivers in coverage. Considerable ball tracking skills to break up passes in the air and at the catchpoint, and has amassed seven interceptions throughout his career. From outside the box, he can shorten the edge with notable physicality and force the ball carrier inside. Plays with great leverage on angle tackles and can finish tackles in space. Attempts to rip out the ball every chance he gets. He occasionally struggled to leverage multiple deep threats in his zone. Speed concerns when carrying threats vertical in man coverage. Gets washed around when filling a running lane in the box. His lack of size and length makes it difficult to wrap up and bring down bigger ball carriers especially in the box, allowing significant yards-after-contact.
2024 Stats: 70 T, 3 TFL, 1 sack, 8 PBU, 3 QBH, 2 FF, 2 INT. Draft projection: 3rd/4th round
