Three year starter. Third team All-Big 10 in 2024. Has size and height with a thick frame and strong upper body. Has played all along the front, lining up in a five to a zero technique. Combines an explosive get off with extremely quick hands shooting into a blocker’s frame. Has stack and shed ability using brute strength and leg drive to control blockers. Can get extension to lock out a blocker and flashes a club move to get free. Generally holds the point of attack against double teams. Plays with a hot motor, hustling to the whistle. Can make plays chasing along the front coming off a block. As a pass rusher, uses a powerful bull rush and flashes ability to stack moves coming off initial charge. Has shown hand swipes, a club move, and arm over and under. Quick hands can get him around blockers. Shows a closing burst once free. If he doesn’t get there on the rush, gets his hands in the throwing lane and has batted down passes. Effective on inside stunts, he can get skinny to the line on a gap charge and disrupt in the backfield. Has had some success splitting double teams. Lacks ideal length and it shows at times as he can be slow to come off a block after initial strike. Pad level tends to be high but he can lose all knee bend at times and get knocked off the ball. If pass rush gets too tall, a powerful blocker can stall him on the line. Can be susceptible to double teams. Average agility, he can be slow redirecting. Lacks bend to turn the corner rushing off the edge. Projects as a rotational interior defender with some position versatility.
