Junior entry. One year starter. Second team All-SEC in 2024. Lacks ideal size and is strictly a center but is very athletic for an interior lineman with his solid functional strength. Combine work was outstanding. Quick snap and step he can cut off the “A” gap. Quickness is a trademark of his game. Plays with excellent inside hand position. Does a good job of protecting both “A” gaps. Once he clamps you….you stay clamped. Good stiff punch will jar the defender. His off the ball ability helps serves him well on combo blocks as he can get to the second level to seal a linebacker. Mirrors opponents well in pass protection. Has surprising skills in picking up line twists and stunts for such limited experience at center. With his good feet, he’s able to cut off the defender. Can be beaten with a quick initial move, but he recovers extremely well with incredible lateral quickness. Lacks size in important areas, needed to move defenders out. He’s short-armed and can have trouble locking out powerful nose tackles. Much better as a pass protector than as a blocker, need to work on his anchor to hold defenders at bay. Tends to over set, needs to work on “setting down” and lowering his back end. Inexperienced, he is at the bottom of the learning curve, with large amounts of upside. Potentially a solid second or third day pick.
