Four year starter. First team All-Big 12 and consensus All-America last fall. Ideal frame for an NFL offensive lineman. He’s a strong dominant player, who’s extremely competitive. Allowed zero sacks or quarterback hits in 2023. Shows an explosive punch coming off the ball along with lateral quickness. On drive blocks he gets his hands on the defender and runs his feet. At his best with a defender lined up on his nose. Real good straight ahead and when he stays square, he’s very strong at the point of attack. Solid on combo blocks he gets a push and slips up on to the linebacker and gets his feet in the ground. Good quickness on the outside screen to wide receivers. Sits down well on run blocks and short pass sets, keeps his back flat and lowers himself. Handles bull rushers with a strong anchor. Punch and mirror are usually solid but lateral range is average. Plays a bit high, will get out-charged at the point of attack. Needs to consistently maintain a wide base. At times gives up the edge and needs to give up less ground on pass protection. His lack of arm length may move him to guard. Must stay open minded about his position at the next level. A little more strength will help him in all of these areas. Has the diversity to add depth to whichever team drafts him. Good character man with a lunch pail work ethic. Whoever drafts him will get a player who will add to the character to the team.
