Two year starter. Transferred from Louisburg CC in 2022. Second team All-ACC in 2023. Tall, somewhat high cut corner with height, length and athletic skill. Played multiple concepts including outside zone, hard corner cover two, press and off man. Adept at press man disrupting routes with various jam techniques at different levels. Will use a reactive press sometimes using a late jam on a vertical release catching a receiver off guard. Also effective with an off-hand jam on an outside release or two hand jam to maintain leverage on an inside release. In off coverage gives a big cushion but maintains position with an aggressive turn as the route goes vertical. Has the speed to cover deep and shows excellent recovery speed if separated on a route break. Disciplined to keep focus on the receiver with excellent mirror ability throughout the route. Quick feet allow him to quickly plant and drive on balls in front of him. Solid ball skills for interception opportunities. Long arms are evident extending to the catch point. Effective playing from behind using length to tighten the throwing lane. In zone concepts has good route recognition and can close voids in overlapping zones. Excellent re-route ability and solid reactions as a hard corner balancing high/low routes. Willing and aggressive in run support he makes some big hits and can defeat stalk blocks with strong hands to shed. As he’s high cut, shows some footwork issues in tight transitions. Will occasionally bounce off a tackle by not wrapping. Has some trouble locating the ball in phase and has allowed some plays as a result. Suffered an ACL injury during a September practice. Should recover to play early in 2025 but medical review will factor in evaluation. He could be the big corner most teams covet.
