Three year starter. Second team All-SEC in 2023. Somewhat lean for an interior defender, he has a solid well defined frame. Has played from a five to a zero technique and every alignment in-between. Plays with a lot of energy and hustle. Quick at the snap he shoots his hands immediately to engage a blocker. Normally plays at a good pad level to maintain leverage on blocks. Has a solid punch to gain separation while he locates the ball. At his best playing one gap and is relentless to find openings to get to the ball. Plays to the whistle and is around the ball a lot. Second effort has gotten him to a number of plays. Chases across the field in pursuit and has made some plays on the perimeter. When aligned inside he draws a lot of double teams. As a pass rusher, stacks moves off his initial punch favoring hand swipes to get him around the block. Will push pull, dip and rip along with out to in counters to get free. Favors working the edge of blockers where he has his most success. More pressure than sacks as his inside rush is often met with a second blocker. Has tackling skill but needs to consistently finish as he has fallen off some tackles. Second effort has sometimes drawn some penalties. Pad level can be inconsistent and he seems to run out of gas late in games. Struggles with double teams and can be neutralized by powerful blockers. Has some balance issues turning the corner around a blocker and will lose footing at times. Has NFL upside and may be suited to play a four or five technique in a base defense with flexibility to move inside situationally.
