Junior entry, two year starter. Transfer from Purdue in 2024. Second team All-Big 10 in 2023 and first team All-SEC in 2024. Named to the Walter Camp All-America team in 2024. Powerful edge defender with length and upper and lower body mass. Versatile player with ability to line up from a wide nine to a three technique. Used mostly on the edge, he has played from both a two and three point stance with some experience in coverage. He’s at his best working out of a three point stance. Shoots his powerful hands into blockers at the snap he can hold the point and stack and shed. Does a solid job reading blocking schemes and locating the ball. Adept at setting the edge versus the run as well as sifting inside to make plays along the line. Excellent on inside line stunts with quick penetration into a gap. He’s been productive getting tackles for a loss as a result. As a pass rusher he has a variety of moves including an outside and inside spin move. Turns speed to power coming from a wide alignment and also shows a push pull into a move such as an arm under and various chops to get free. Has a powerful bull rush which can work into a move or collapse the pocket. Effective adjusting to oversets and can be extremely hard for tackles to keep him out of the backfield. Doesn’t have elite get off and there is some hip tightness turning the corner or adjusting pass rush path. His pad level can get upright and he sometimes gets too tied up with a tackle and stuck on the line. He projects best as a hand in the dirt defensive end who could possibly shift inside on passing downs.
