One year starter. Rotational player from 2020 to 2023. Second team AP All-America in 2024. Solid frame with ideal length to play interior defensive line. Played mostly a three or two technique but had reps as a one based on call. At his best as a two gap defender with stack and shed ability to get off blocks and fit inside gaps. Shows linebacker-like ability to read blocking schemes and locate the ball. Has solid lateral movement and a surprising closing burst to make plays all along the line. Adept at disrupting zone blocking schemes, preventing climbing blockers from getting to the second level. Long arms separate from blockers on reach blocks allowing him to get to the alley from a three technique. Anchors against double teams and is rarely moved off the ball. Absorbs double teams and creates opportunities for linebackers to fill inside gaps. As a pass rusher he flashes the ability to collapse the pocket but his best trait is coming up the middle and getting his hands in the throwing lane. Length disrupts the quarterback's vision. Other than that there’s not much in the pass rush as he lacks a quick first step and is easily neutralized. Tends to get upright at the snap and can lose knee bend on contact. Lacks a consistently explosive punch to stack and shed to get off a block in his immediate gap. Makes more plays two or more gaps over. Collins is a workmanlike tackle in the trenches with little flash. Still raw as a first year starter, but his positive traits indicate upside for more at the next level.
