One year starter. First team All-Big 10, AP first team All-America and Butkus Award finalist in 2024. Undersized but has a solid frame with some room to grow. Was primarily an elite special team player in 2022 and 2023. Finally became a starter this past season and made the most of the opportunity. Extreme athlete, he fit seamlessly at the Mike position. Instinctive with run fits showing sudden downhill reactions. Adept at diagnosing blocking schemes, his quick reactions often beat blockers to the gap. Avoids a lot of blocks without losing path to the ball. Attacks open windows and makes a lot of plays on the line. Plays with knee bend and flashes stack and shed ability on the move. Usually gets ball side leverage fitting inside gaps. Solid agility, he’s fluid changing direction in short spaces. Rarely out of position. Has been effective blitzing by hitting a gap at the snap and chasing in the backfield. Sideline to sideline range in pursuit he can get to the alley and chase to the perimeter. Incredible tackling skill he can square up ball carriers in the hole with explosive gather and drive. Excels in zone coverage with route recognition and fluid movement closing voids in zones. Easily flips his hips off initial drop to find and close the throwing lane. Normally reads the delivery key and shows sudden plant and drive with the ball in the air. Has mirror skill in man coverage and can stay in phase with a back up the field. Occasionally loses route combinations by staring at the quarterback or jumping an individual route. Has some trouble disengaging against physical interior offensive linemen. Lack of bulk shows at times taking on straight up blocks. He still has development but has the upside of an elite three down NFL starter.
