Junior entry, two year starter. First team All-SEC and second team FWAA All-America in 2024. Versatile linebacker with imposing size and length. Played primarily off the ball but was also used on the edge as an on the ball outside linebacker. Patient with run fits, when he diagnoses he shuffles downhill or downhill and can hit open windows or take on interior blockers. Uses length to separate from blocks and flashes quick hands to shed on the move. At his best scraping and pursuing to the perimeter. Flashes fundamental tackling skill and has improved his ability to wrap up and make plays in space. Plays with hustle and gets to a lot of tackles. Excellent blitz skill he can hit inside gaps and close in the backfield. Has been effective as an edge rusher using speed to get around the corner. Uses long arms on hand swipes to get free. Has been productive making plays in the backfield. As a zone defender, he’s shown ability to read route combinations and the quarterback keeping his head on a swivel. Gets good depth in his drop and stresses the throwing lane with his length. Reacts quickly with the ball in the air. Campbell is high cut and tends to play high on blocks and lose his power base. This also shows tackling as after a good pop he will sometimes give up yards after contact. Occasionally takes a side on a block and gets washed out. Short space change of direction can be segmented and slow at times. Has some missed tackles in space but cut down on those as the season progressed. In man coverage he gets too easily separated on route breaks. Alabama used him more to blitz and rush the passer on obvious passing downs. His versatile skill set and size will fit with most teams.
